Start Pac
by Rotorcraft Enterprises, Inc.

Start Pac
Start Pac is an all in one compact, portable GPU. Each Start Pac unit comes with built in heater (which maintains the battery at an optimum output temperature), charger, power plugs and cable. The cells are sealed, non-hazardous and operate in any position and any altitude. Units put out 24 volts to 28.5 volts depending on which model you get. There are 16 models to choose from including the Mini Start Pac - the smallest of the all the units and will even fit into a small tool box. Each Start Pac allows the user to either start an aircraft engine (some larger models can start the largest electrically started turbine engine, the Garrett TPE331 with ease) or in case of a dead battery, use it as an APU for avionics operation. All Start Pac Units (excluding the Mini Start Pac) are fully capable of providing adequate power to an aircraft's avionics system for over an hour without being plugged into wall current! Plugged in, the Start Pac acts as an APU to provide constant power for aircraft to run the avionics.

Starting your aircraft when the battery is dead or to extend the the aircraft's battery cycles, the Start Pac is so easy to use. Every GA airplane will use and accept Start Pac Units. To make the unit even more portable and convient, Start Pac's charging unit is internal. To eliminate the need to disconnect from power or to prevent overcharging, the intelligent charging system is capable of recognizing charging status and automatically stops the charging process.

START PAC FEATURES
1. Provides 24 or 28 Volt Power, very high amperage for starting aircraft and serves as auxiliary power unit (APU) for aircraft maintenance.

2. Weather and water-resistant. Also they tolerate COLD temperatures better than lead acid or Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) batteries. All units have a built-in heater which maintains the batteries at optimum output temperature.

3. Non Hazardous. No acid or gas to escape. Can be shipped regular UPS or regular airfreight. Gas recombination battery, means gas produced during charging is absorbed by the battery's electrolyte. Battery is not vented like normal lead acid batteries.

4. The battery is lead alloy, with starved plate technology, made specifically for these units. There is a sponge like material between the plates absorbing and holding the electrolyte. That is why nothing will leak out, even if the Start Pac was to be cut in half. This technology enables the battery to hold its charge for up to two (2) years on the shelf. Lead acid and others degrade quickly by comparison.

5. The battery is " maintenance free". They are replaceable for about one-fourth the cost of a new Start Pac. Units are good for about 1200 charging cycles if the batteries are not completely discharged. If the units are totally discharged after every use, the cycle life will be reduced to 300-400 charging cycles.

6. Very low internal resistance, high amperage output, uses strong military specification connectors and parts. Strong rugged design, aluminum case, powder coated, bright yellow. Heavy-duty, extra flexible power cord. Standard length 6 ft. but can be up to 10 ft. as special order.

7. Units are self contained, come complete with power cord and built-in charger.

8. Chargers are available in 110 Volt, 220 Volt, and international voltages. When the battery is fully charged, it switches to a float mode.

9. Units should be left plugged in all the time. If the charger senses the charge is less than 100%, it will kick in and charge till full and revert back to float mode.

10. Recharge Times:
2-4 Hours depending on model.

11. Unit will work in any position, at any altitude.

12. Model 1324-1 & 1324-2 is recommended for aircraft with engines up to 800-horse power, such as MD 500, Bell 206-407, Beech King Air, etc. Model 2300 and Model 4300 is recommended for aircraft over 700 h.p. And will start most business jets.

START PAC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. CAUTION Always plug in Start Pac shortly after being used. If left in an uncharged state over a period time, the battery life and capacity will be greatly reduced.

2. These units have an internal heater to keep the batteries at the optimum output temperature; therefore the Start Pac should be plugged in at all times when not in use. In addition, the Start Pac may be left plugged in while being used.

3. When batteries are fully charged, Start Pac has a one-year shelf life retaining over 90% of its charge.

4. Cold temperatures will affect any battery performance. Whenever possible, keep Start Pac
in a warm environment for best results.
